So another Dragoncon has come and gone, Sadly I didn’t get to explore it quite as much as I wanted to. I’m still fighting off the remnants of pneumonia (ick!) I did get to sneak out of my deathbed long enough to visit on Saturday, but largely because I was running 40K demos for Gigabites Cafe (the LGS I am regularly attending) and the Atlanta GW store. I stayed in the gaming area most of the time, trying to survive the meat locker that it was (it did warm up when bodies started coming in). Fortunately I had my birthday present from my sweetie – a War Dolls hoodie (t-shirts are coming!!)! Things went really well, and I met a few new people that were cool, a couple of kids that scared me a little bit while fondling our minis (but they were actually pretty respectful, just energetic) and of course, got to “Get my Geek On”. There’s not a lot of 40k goers (well not with armies) at big conventions that I’ve noticed. I think most folks come for the RPGs, board games, LARPs and finding new games in the gaming area. Still, it was fun, and we did stay fairly busy. We may have even learned a thing or two. It was also nice getting to know the manager of the GW store. We did make our way about the con. We missed the celebrities, it seemed to be feeding time. The dealer’s rooms were still open though. I spent far more than I wanted to, but it was worth it. We got a couple of new games, LOTS of dice and of course, my 4th Doctor’s screwdriver.

It was a pretty good con, but there’s SO very much that you really do need multiple days to see it all. I think we may try and attend multiple days next year. In the mean time, I need to start gearing up for the very first Atlanta GT next year!

  1. God I would love to go to DragonCon again some day, really need to put aside some money for it and go with some of my friends from up here. Get some costumes and the like ready.

  2. I really want to make plans for DragonCon last year. This was the first time I was able to go ever, and I had fun excepting the long lines and the crushing crowd in the dealer’s rooms. I completely missed the CMON booth, I gave up after fighting my way through the first floor.

For next year my room mate and I want to get a hotel room. Driving up each day was quite the pain Maybe we can go in for a room together with War Dolls that are attending. I have no problems sleeping in a chair or floor.
