Phase One of the project on which I am working is to introduce humans and the Corporations they represent. That phase is nearing completion and currently only needs some adjusting and testing. Any creative efforts are being directed towards Phase Two or coming up with a better title for the project.
Phase Two deals with the history and structure of the mighty Terran Dominion, it’s ventures into space and the races of the Dominion’s colonized worlds. The Terran Dominion currently has human colonies and/or military bases on the homeworlds of the Canidae, the Cephalopeds and the Mustelan. These are names given by the Terrans and not their own, as it was decided that they were unpronounceable with the human tongue. These are not the only alien beings that the Terran Explorers have met, just the ones deemed worthy of inclusion in the Dominion.
The Canidae are large bipedal canine like humanoids. They live in a powder-age clan society and while they don’t have much to offer technolgically, their large powerful build plus a very rapid regenerative metabolism make them very valuable as warriors.
Cephalopeds are similar to Earth octopi at first glance and it has been speculated that they may in fact be distant cousins in spite of the distance. They differ in many ways though, including only having six tentacles and powerful psychic abilities. Being water borne beings, the Terran military has been working on “encounter suits” as a means of land travel. The Cephalopeds are largely pacifistic and only agreed to serve the Dominion as interpreters and ambassadors.
Mustelans appear to be short, bipedal bears but that belies their true nature. They are swift, stealthy killers but they live in a deeply honor bound iron age society. The Dominion only established a colony on their planet because it was thought to be unpopulated. Their relationship to the Dominions is tenuous as the military hasn’t found a suitable use for them and that suits the Mustelan just fine.
Phase Three will attend to the farthest reaches of the Terran exploration, introduction of the Athasians and the various races which make up the Athasian Confederacy.
